The Ohio State Buckeyes’ big win over the Texas Longhorns had millions of eyes on it in Columbus. Additionally, the NFL world was dialed into it as well. A bunch of NFL teams were in attendance to watch the game between perhaps the best two teams in the country.
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was one of the NFL personnel in attendance and he was able to take his family with him to the game. Ohio State and Texas both have a number of draft prospects for next year’s draft that were out there in the Week 1 matchup.
“Great experience, good job, Coach (Ryan) Day and that crew,” Stefanski said when asked about it on Monday. “That’s really the first big time college football game I’ve ever been to, with all respect to the Penn Quakers. So, it was fun for me to be able to take my boys down there. Had a blast. The Shoe (Ohio Stadium) was rocking. It was very cool.”
Ohio State ended up beating No. 1 Texas, 14-7, in a game that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and general manager Andrew Verry both ended up attending. Arch Manning of course is an interesting name at quarterback if he decides to come out in 2026, though his first road start against the Buckeyes was not a good one.
Stefanski picked the right game to go to as the Buckeyes had perhaps the best home game environment with over 107,000 announced for attendance. The Browns head coach played college ball at Penn, which is good for an education, but you aren’t going to get a great football environment.
The Browns have players like Denzel Ward, Mike Hall Jr., Jerome Baker, Dawand Jones, Ronnie Hickman, and Luke Wypler who all played for the Buckeyes. Quinshon Judkins will be a Brown once he sings his contract as well. Perhaps Stefanski got a look at the next Buckeye who is going to make his way up Route 71 in the 2026 draft.
