The CW is officially bringing its hit series, "All American," to a close. The high school football drama has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the network announced Monday, with 13 new episodes set to air in 2026.
Created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll and based on the real-life journey of Spencer Paysinger, "All American" debuted in 2018 and became a breakout young adult hit for The CW, growing into the network’s No. 1 primetime show among adults 18-49. It also holds the top spot on The CW app, which is a rare feat for any broadcast show in the streaming era.
In a heartfelt statement, Deadline reported that Carroll thanked fans and collaborators for making the show’s historic run possible. “It is so hard to say goodbye to the thing that you love, but we are so excited we get to do it in the way we envisioned,” she said, adding that the team is determined to “leave it all on the field one last time.”
While Season 6 tied up Spencer James’s NFL storyline with a Super Bowl win and a wedding, Season 7 introduced a new crop of characters, following the exit of many original cast members due to budget constraints. Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, and Bre-Z returned, joined by newcomers like Osy Ikhile and Nathaniel McIntyre — some of whom were revealed to have ties to the central Baker family.
The CW President Brad Schwartz credited the show for reinventing itself without losing momentum, noting that viewership jumped 71% among key demographics in Season 7. "'All American' is one of the greatest CW shows of all time," he said.
With a dedicated fanbase, a new generation of characters, and one final chance to score big, "All American" is gearing up for a proper sendoff.
