Caitlin Clark was just as stunned—and elated—as the rest of the basketball world after the Indiana Pacers pulled off a jaw-dropping comeback to steal Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Knicks, 138-135.
Trailing by 15 points with less than five minutes to go, the Pacers ignited a furious rally behind Aaron Nesmith’s hot hand, as he buried six consecutive threes to erase the deficit. Then Tyrese Haliburton, with the game hanging in the balance, twisted into a miracle shot that sent the game into overtime.
Even before the buzzer sounded, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark couldn’t contain her excitement.
“PACERS ARE THE GREATEST COMEBACK TEAM I’VE EVER SEEN,” she posted on social media.
The Pacers have fully leaned into their underdog mentality this postseason. After knocking off the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round and shocking the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in the semis, Indiana has proven it’s not just here to compete—they’re here to take over.
Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals is set for Friday at 8 P.M. ET, with all eyes on whether the Knicks can respond or if the Pacers’ magic continues.
Before the Pacers’ Eastern Conference Finals clash, Tyrese Haliburton showed love to another Hoosier hardwood star—Caitlin Clark.
Speaking to ESPN’s Holly Rowe during the Indiana Fever’s opening night game against the Chicago Sky, Haliburton revealed that he studies Clark’s game, especially her elite court vision and bold passing creativity.
“There’s different angles she tries, and there’s more passes she’s willing to do than I am,” Haliburton said. “I watch everything. Her being a talent definitely helps. I take more ideas.”
That mutual respect between Indiana’s basketball stars is exactly what’s fueling the state’s basketball renaissance.
Clark did her part in the Fever’s 93-58 win over the Sky, making WNBA history by contributing to nearly 20% of all triple-doubles ever recorded in the league, per StatMuse.
As the Pacers chase a Finals berth and the Fever build momentum, Indiana has become a basketball hotbed again, with Clark and Haliburton leading the charge and feeding off each other’s greatness.
