Jack Rafferty entered Saturday night’s main event against Mark Chamberlain as the favorite. But once the bell rang at Planet Ice, the two super lightweights engaged in a war that no scorecard could neatly contain.

After 12 hard-fought rounds, the judges returned a split draw: 115-113 Chamberlain, 114-114, 114-114. With the stalemate, Rafferty retains his British & Commonwealth Super Lightweight titles.

A Fight With No Backseat

Neither man took a step backward from the opening exchanges. Rafferty set the tone early, landing sharp straight rights that opened a cut under Chamberlain’s left eye. Still, Chamberlain rallied, pouring on power shots that swelled both of Rafferty’s eyes as the fight moved into the middle rounds.

By the ninth, Rafferty seemed to be gaining momentum and looked close to pulling away on the scorecards. But Chamberlain’s resilience showed late. With 45 seconds left in the final round, he rocked Rafferty with a heavy shot that had the champion reeling. Rafferty managed to hold on and survive until the final bell.

The Result and What’s Next

The split draw reflected just how close the bout was, with both fighters having strong arguments for victory. After the scorecards were read, Rafferty and Chamberlain each signaled their openness to an immediate rematch a result that would no doubt please fans who witnessed their 36 minute slugfest.

For now, Rafferty keeps his belts, but Chamberlain leaves with his stock raised and momentum for another high profile showdown. Fight fans would definitely not be opposed to a rematch.
