The Philadelphia Eagles have made up their mind about second-year wide receiver Ainias Smith.

Smith finished the preseason, hauling in six catches for 40 yards and two touchdowns, along with a 46-yard punt return through three games.
He was on track to make the team during the early training camp process, but then the Eagles traded for veteran wide receiver John Metchie.
There's still a chance the Eagles bring him back on their practice squad.
In 2024, Smith had missed a good chunk of the Eagles’ NFL training camp with an ankle injury that put him on Injured Reserve. Because of that, he didn’t get much of a chance to prove himself.
Once he returned in October, Smith saw action in seven games and finished the year reeling in seven catches for 41 yards and one touchdown, which he scored in Week 18 against the New York Giants when the Eagles rested their starters.
Entering Year 2, Smith had said that he feels a lot faster, which we saw during the preseason, though he wasn't consistent.
“Since last year, I really didn’t have the full offseason, but now I feel real good this year, I’m excited,” Smith told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston last month. “I’m explosive. I’m lighter than I was last year, so I’m excited for sure. I lost a few pounds, for sure.”
With Smith not making the Eagles' 53-man roster, it looks like undrafted free agent rookie Darius Cooper will be continuing his Cinderella Story.
