Texas Tech football didn’t just score big on the field in Week 1, the Red Raiders picked up another huge commitment off the field. Texas Tech landed a commitment from 5-star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett amid their Week 1 weather delay on Saturday night.
According to reports, the Red Raiders secured the pledge from five-star 2027 offensive tackle Cooper Hackett while their season-opening clash with Arkansas–Pine Bluff was temporarily paused due to weather.
Hackett, a 6-6, 250-pound standout from Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, is ranked as the top recruit in the state and the second-best offensive tackle in the Class of 2027. Known for his athleticism, thanks in part to a background in high school basketball, he brings explosive movement, body control, and adaptability to the offensive line.
This makes Hackett the second top-10 recruit to commit to Texas Tech’s 2027 class, joining highly regarded in-state edge rusher LaDamion Guyton.
Texas Tech was leading UAPB 47-0 when the game went into a weather delay in Lubbock. But for the Red Raiders, the good news continued off the field, before eventually resuming on the field.
