The biggest crybabies in sports

1 of 24

Novak Djokovic

It's hard to blame tennis players for being temperamental, as tennis is arguably the cruelest game ever invented. But Djokovic’s temper tantrums and constant complaining about line calls are grating to watch. A couple highlights from the last couple years include shouting vulgar Serbian obscenities at fans who dared root against him in Madrid and unleashing a profanity-laced tirade on a chair umpire in Shanghai.

Nick Saban

Saban is a purveyor of one of the lamest, most despicable forms of crybabying. His habit of screaming at 19-year-olds on national TV after they make a mistake in a football game can be nothing less than shameful. It's hard to begrudge his yelling at referees — and certainly not at Lane Kiffin — but watching Saban shrieking at kids is unbearable. He produced some excellent tantrum highlights during a bumbling, narrow win over Arkansas a couple years ago.

Tom Brady

Brady is unmatched in his capacity to embarrass receivers and hurl abuse at people. He constantly berates teammates and whines at referees for calls. He's at least pretty self-aware, admitting after a game against the lowly Jets in 2013 that "I have to do a better job with my body language." His classic move when someone else messes up is to dramatically throw his arms in the air in disgust and look to the sky, as if to commiserate with the heavens about the shortcomings of these mere mortals.

Kevin Garnett

This guy could deliver a TED Talk on “The Art of Aging and Still Managing to Be a Crybaby.” His refusal to shake hands with longtime former teammate Ray Allen in 2012 is the stuff of crybaby legend.

Serena Williams

Serena will go down in history as one of the greatest American athletes of all time, despite her incessant yelling at umpires over line calls and unrestrained shrieking when her backhands sail long. After getting slapped with a hefty fine for lashing out against a lineswoman in the 2009 U.S. Open, she followed that up by calling an umpire a "loser" and "unattractive inside" during the 2011 U.S. Open Final, icing the tirade with: "I truly despise you."

Tiger Woods

Tiger’s had a rough go as of late. Let’s pile on by adding him to this crybaby list for his longtime habit of cursing at fans, cameramen and golf balls.

Andy Murray

Murray seems like an emotional wreck on the court — even more so than most tennis players. He is also famous for destroying his rackets when things don't go his way. He even once smashed an impressive three rackets during a defeat in the Australian Open Final.

Bryce Harper

Bryce Harper embodies why everyone hates the millennials: sulking, moodiness, unmerited brashness, excessive whining and not running out ground balls.

Doug Baldwin

In one of the breakout crybaby performances, the Seahawks receiver unleashed a series of hyper-sensitive tirades after having his talent questioned during the playoffs a couple years ago. He then sealed his spot on this list by doing the most immature touchdown celebration the world has ever seen in the Super Bowl.

Manu Ginobili

Frequent flopping is one of the telltale signs you have an unrepentant crybaby on your hands. Ginobili is infamous for making the slightest amount of contact look like he might be mortally wounded. This photo captures his famous "double flop" that was committed in unison with fellow flopper Raja Bell.

Arjen Robben

Everyone complains about the finely manicured Portuguese crying-machine Cristiano Ronaldo, but Arjen Robben’s childishly manipulative behavior on the pitch is a menace. His diving against Mexico during the 2014 World Cup is enough to earn him a spot on this list.

12 of 24

Kobe Bryant

Kobe makes the list for his publicly humiliating teammates, which is a classic crybaby move. Of course, Kobe's crying days just came to an end, as 2015-16 was the 20-year Lakers great's final season.

Tony Stewart

Stewart drives a car for a living and stomps around pouting, whining, complaining and fighting like he’s some kind of real hotshot. The last thing we need on our country’s roads is more high-strung crybabies driving aggressively.

Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather has taken on an obnoxious, hyper-sensitive mega-ego persona. Thankfully, the public has started to come around on Floyd, as he is now widely regarded as one of the least liked athletes on the planet.

15 of 24

Dwight Howard

Howard has left a trail of hard feelings with his lousy, selfish attitude and inability to play nice with others. His antics burned every bridge possible in Orlando and L.A., and his time is running out in Houston as well.

16 of 24

DeMarcus Cousins

His sour attitude has been a hot topic of debate, drawing ire from the likes of Charles Barkley. He has not yet mastered the art of sucking it up and continuing to run the floor and play defense when a call doesn’t go his way. Let’s hope his sulking crybaby ways don’t diminish or thwart his extraordinary skills on the court.

Peyton Manning

He’s always been a tightly wound, hyper-sensitive control freak who could throw a tantrum at any time. However, like Kobe, Peyton's crybaby playing days are now through after winning his second Super Bowl of his career, this time with the Denver Broncos.

Chris Paul

No one doubts his game, but CP3 is a chronic complainer. His gruff, on-court attitude nearly cost the Clippers their franchise center, and it doesn't pay to be the best point guard in the NBA if your teammates don't like playing with you.

David Ortiz

"Big Papi" gets a free pass for the most part because he’s so jovial — and certainly one of the greatest clutch hitters of all time — but he’s been a preening diva forever. His move is to yell and point the bat at pitchers who dare throw inside to him and then wait for the umpire to restrain him.

20 of 24

Hanley Ramirez

Ramirez earned a reputation for demanding special treatment, sulking, complaining and rarely giving maximum effort with the Marlins. Red Sox fans now have to take the good with the bad with this volatile crybaby.

Delmon Young

Young once threw a bat at an umpire over a strike call in a shocking display of full-on toddler-tantrum rage, and he's currently without a team following offseason battery charges.

22 of 24

Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler

Cutler is known for his arm strength but perhaps even more so for having the sourest puss you have ever seen in your life. His post-interception countenance is eerily similar to the face a toddler makes when mom or dad switches off her favorite TV program.

23 of 24

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez

Suarez is famous for biting his opponents. In between chomping people — an impulse most toddlers can resist — he somehow finds the time to incessantly harangue referees for calls and score the occasional goal.

Kevin Durant

We’re witnessing KD’s sad, slow descent into crybaby status. His recent lashing out at the media and confession of how he hates them seems to be a harbinger of a saltier, whinier version of Kevin Durant we’re going to have to deal with in the coming years.
