Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Joey Wiemer. Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports

Joey Wiemer, one of the Milwaukee Brewers “freshman,” has been getting everyday centerfield reps this year after teammate Garrett Mitchell went down with a shoulder injury that required surgical intervention. His defense has been phenomenal, but his offensive production has been up-and-down.

At the plate, Wiemer has a rather unorthodox swing. There is a lot of power with his approach, but at the time of this publication, his production had been streaky. This is evidenced by a .201/.265/.343 slash line with a 65 wRC+.

Despite this, he has had some offensive highlights this year. Against the Kansas City Royals, he recorded his first career walk-off. Most recently against the Houston Astros, he hit a 430-foot home run. That is the Brewers' second-longest home run of the year.

The only home run by a Milwaukee Brewer that was hit further this year was a Christian Yelich long ball against the Kansas City Royals that traveled 433 feet. He just edged out a 429-foot Rowdy Tellez long ball and 427-foot William Contreras home run.

Wiemer had a ton of success at the plate in the minor leagues. Hopefully, this home run can be the start of a hot streak for him.
