CJ Abrams Joins Juan Soto in Nationals History

Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams reached a major franchise milestone Tuesday night, becoming the first Washington player to record 100 RBIs in a season since Juan Soto and Anthony Rendon accomplished the feat in 2019.

Abrams reached the mark with a solo home run in the second inning against the Detroit Tigers. He added another two-run blast in the seventh, powering the Nationals to a 3-1 victory.

The first homer gave Abrams his 100th RBI of the season and made him the 12th player in Nationals history to reach the century mark. He later pushed his season total to 102 RBIs with his second home run.

Abrams’ milestone puts him in the same franchise company as Soto and Rendon, who both reached 100 RBIs during Washington’s 2019 World Series championship season. Soto finished that campaign with 110 RBIs, while Rendon drove in 126 runs.

The performance also added to what has already been a productive season for Abrams. The shortstop entered Tuesday with 31 home runs and 33 stolen bases, having reached the 30-30 mark earlier this month.

Abrams’ two-homer performance gives him 33 home runs and 33 stolen bases on the season, joining Alfonso Soriano as the only players in franchise history to record a 30-30 campaign.

The 25-year-old has continued to provide Washington with a combination of power and speed from the middle of its lineup. His 102 RBIs now represent the first triple-digit RBI season by a Nationals player since the club’s championship run seven years ago.

With only a handful of games remaining, Abrams has given the Nationals another significant individual milestone to close out the 2026 season. His latest performance also places his name alongside some of the most productive hitters in franchise history.
