The Cleveland Guardians announced Thursday afternoon that they have signed former Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Luis Frias to a contract.

As the Blue Jays continue to hold out on signing any free agents, their former players continue to gets deals done with Frias being the latest.

Former Blue Jays pitcher Luis Frias signs with the Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians announced that they have agreed on a minor league deal with former Blue Jays relief pitcher Luis Frias, which will include a major league spring training invitation.

The Blue Jays claimed Frias off waivers last season from the Arizona Diamondbacks in early August as he bounced between Triple-A and the MLB. He finished the season with a brutal 13.97 ERA between the two teams.

The chances of Frias making the Guardians MLB roster despite the invitation to camp are slim but he does have MLB experience, which is why he might end up getting a chance throughout the season.

Even if it was smart for the Blue Jays to let Frias go after the season he had in 2024, they need to start making moves, even if it is just minor league signings as they will end up without any options.

Hopefully, Ross Atkins has some big plans for the next few days and the Blue Jays will be making some big moves but as of now there is nothing.
