Although Fletcher only spent the first half of the 2023 season with the Diamondbacks before being sent down and ultimately traded to the White Sox in early February (in a move that brought Cristian Mena to Arizona), Tommy Pham became a critical piece in the Diamondbacks’ run to the World Series.
Pham, who played for his fifth different team in a three-year span, joined the Diamondbacks after spending the first half of the season with the Mets. In the NLDS, Pham had a notable Game 1 performance, going 4-5 at the plate. He then shined in Game 2 of the World Series, going 4-4 and scoring two runs as the Diamondbacks evened the series with a 9-1 win.
Since joining the White Sox in April, Pham has shown no signs of slowing down his productivity. At 36 years old, he has posted a .280 batting average across 33 games.
Pham and Fletcher have become the first players to accept the Diamondbacks’ 2023 National League Championship rings. Earlier this season, Nick Ahmed, who was released by Arizona last September, denied his ring when the Giants came to town.
