The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to make noise in the National League, sitting a half-game up for the second Wild Card spot.
Despite a growing list of injuries and a lack of star pitching, the D-backs have looked the part of a playoff team through the first two months of the season.
However, one player who has not contributed much to that success is shortstop Geraldo Perdomo. And now, the Snakes appear ready to shake things up.
John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reported on X this morning that Perdomo will be out of the lineup for today's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jose Fernandez will start in his place.
The news comes one day after manager Torey Lovullo was asked about potentially moving Perdomo out of the top half of the lineup.
"I don't want to say exactly what I'm thinking, because I haven't had a conversation with him. But I'm always trying to figure out how to adjust this lineup and make it as successful as possible. So without saying yes or no, I think you can figure out where I'm at with that. I don't know the answer. I'm thinking about it, though," Lovullo said.
The struggling Geraldo Perdomo, who went 0-3 last night and is now batting .221 on the season, will get the day off today and Jose Fernandez will be at shortstop in Game 2 vs the Dodgers.

Lovullo did not directly say he plans to move Perdomo down in the lineup. However, his comments suggested he is considering changes to help the shortstop get back on track.
Perdomo broke out in a big way last season. He slashed .290/.389/.462 with an .851 OPS, 20 home runs, and 27 stolen bases. He also accumulated a 7.1 bWAR, the highest mark in the National League.
This season has been a different story.
After last night's game, Perdomo was hitting .221 with a .344 slugging percentage, .673 OPS, three home runs, and 21 RBI. Despite those struggles, he has remained in the No. 3 spot behind Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll.
For much of last season, Perdomo thrived batting ninth. In 86 plate appearances from that spot, he slashed .353/.430/.500 with a .930 OPS.
After Perdomo's off day, it may prove prudent for Arizona to move their shortstop lower in the lineup and allow him to rebuild some confidence.
The D-backs will look to win their second straight game against the Dodgers tonight with Michael Soroka on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. PT.
