Diamondbacks take care of Padres with ease

Friday night was a victorious one for the Arizona Diamondbacks as they defeated the San Diego Padres by a score of 5-1.

The D-Backs have now won four straight, as the Snakes have been playing some of their best baseball as of late. It was another big outing from their stars and a stable night from their bullpen.

Arizona went down to an early 1-0 deficit in the top of the first inning but never looked back after. It started with Josh Naylor smashing a home run to tie this game up in the bottom of the second inning.

The D-Backs kept the bats going as Geraldo Perdomo singled to center to score Corbin Carroll to give the Snakes a 2-0 lead in the third inning.

The fifth inning is where Arizona came alive as it started with a Corbin Caroll home run to left field. The Snakes didn’t stop there as Josh Naylor hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Ketel Marte. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. also made some noise as he singled to left to score Geraldo Perdomo to give the D-Backs the lead and eventually win by a score of 5-1.

The bullpen was one of the biggest stories of the night as they didn’t allow a hit after Ryne Nelson exited the game. It started with Kyle Backhus pitching 1.1 innings in decent fashion, then turned it over to Juan Morillo who was steady as well. Right after it was Ryan Thompson and Shelby Miller who closed it out, and they looked as dominant as ever. It was a breath of fresh air for this bullpen room as they have struggled mightily all season.

Arizona will look to build off of this recent winning streak and take the series over the San Diego Padres on Saturday night at Chase Field.
