Eddinson Paulino is one of many prospects acquired before the 2024 trade deadline that rank on this list.
This is Blue Jays Nation’s annual mid-season prospect list, where we’ll take a look at the 50 best prospects in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. I’ll look at the player’s stats, what other publications have to say, as well as my own observations of the players.
Acquired from the Boston Red Sox, Paulino is a utility infielder who plays with the Toronto Blue Jays’ Double-A team and is nearing his career-best in home runs. Therefore, he ranks as our 23rd-best prospect. If you missed our 24th-best prospect, you can read about Edward Duran here.
Position: Utility infielder
Bats: Left
Born: July 2nd, 2002
Acquired: Trade with Boston Red Sox
Previous ranking: 29th (2025 pre-season)
The utility infielder signed a bonus worth $205,000 during the 2018 International Free Agent period with the Red Sox. He didn’t make his debut until the 2019 season, where he slashed .287/.394/.380 with no home runs in 128 plate appearances for a 121 wRC+.
With the global pandemic, Paulino didn’t come stateside until 2021 with the Florida Complex League Red Sox. In 133 plate appearances, the utility infielder slashed .336/.436/.549, but still hadn’t hit a home run.
That changed in 2022, as Paulino hit a career-best 13 home runs in Single-A while slashing .266/.359/.469 in 539 plate appearances for a 122 wRC+. Paulino’s final full season in the Red Sox system came in 2023, and it saw him slash .257/.338/.420 with 12 home runs in 500 plate appearances with their High-A team.
To begin the 2024 season, Paulino played with the Red Sox’s Double-A team. In 278 plate appearances, he hit just three home runs while slashing .263/.349/.391 for a 111 wRC+. Before the 2024 trade deadline, the Red Sox sent him, Cutter Coffey, and Gilberto Batista to the Blue Jays for Danny Jansen.
Paulino, who was injured at the time of the trade, only got 36 plate appearances in the Jays’ organization after the trade, before heading to the Arizona Fall League to end his 2024 season. He repeated the Double-A level in 2025, where he is slashing .198/.269/.362 with 11 home runs in 323 plate appearances for an 84 wRC+.
The 23-year-old’s main calling card is his ability to play around the infield, but it’s a double-edged sword as he doesn’t excel in one position. His contact rates are usually his best thing about his bat, but he has a career-worst strikeout rate in 2025 while batting below the Mendoza line. That said, it’s nice to see him hitting double-digit home runs once again.
If he can turn it around in 2026, Paulino’s potential is that of a left-handed utility infielder with a bit of pop and good contact rates off the bench.
