Former Tennessee Vols outfielder Drew Gilbert came through in a big spot for the San Francisco Giants on Labor Day, but it came against a former UT teammate.
Gilbert, who was traded from the New York Mets to the Giants at the trade deadline in late July, hit his second career home run on Monday.
The two-run home run from Gilbert came off Colorado Rockies RHP Chase Dollander.
Gilbert and Dollander were teammates at Tennessee in 2022 (Gilbert played for the Vols from 2020 to 2022 while Dollander was at Tennessee from 2022 to 2023).

Gilbert, who was selected by the Houston Astros in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft, made his big league debut last month after getting traded to the Giants.
Dollander, a first round pick by the Colorado Rockies in the 2023 MLB Draft, made his MLB debut in April.
It's been a tough go for Dollander this season -- the former Vol had a 6.55 ERA across 19 starts entering Monday's game.
