Before Wednesday's series finale against the Washington Nationals, the Chicago White Sox made four roster moves . Notably, the Sox acquired outfielder Corey Julks in a trade with the Houston Astros and recalled outfielder Dominic Fletcher from Triple-A Charlotte.

White Sox-Astros Trade

The White Sox are taking a flyer on Corey Julks, who was recently designated for assignment by the Astros. In exchange for Julks, the Sox sent minor-league pitcher Luis Rodriguez to Houston.

Julks saw 93 games of action with the Astros last season and slashed .245/.297/.352 with 14 doubles, six home runs, and 33 RBIs in 323 plate appearances. The 28-year-old began the 2024 season with Triple-A Sugar Land, where he slashed .266/.358/.444 with seven doubles, five homers, and 15 RBIs. The Sox optioned Julks to Triple-A Charlotte following the trade.

Rodriguez is a 20-year-old hurler who has spent parts of two seasons in the White Sox organization. The right-hander owns a 3.93 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 12.03 K/9 in 36.2 innings between the Dominican Summer League and Arizona Complex League White Sox.

Dominic Fletcher Returns

After a tough start to the season led to a demotion, Dominic Fletcher is back with the White Sox. The club designated outfielder Rafael Ortega for assignment to make room for Fletcher.

Acquired in an offseason trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Fletcher began the 2024 season as the Sox' starting right fielder but was forced to center when Luis Robert Jr. went on the injured list. He slashed .203/.277/271 with four doubles and six RBIs in 66 plate appearances across 20 games.

Fletcher then went to Charlotte for an 11-game stint, during which he slashed .238/.319/.405 with four doubles, one home run, and four RBIs. The White Sox are certainly hoping the minor-league reset will lead to better big-league results for Fletcher.

Ortega essentially served as a placeholder on the roster for 14 games. He went 1-for-14 in 17 plate appearances and botched a few plays in the outfield, making him an easy cut to open a 26-man roster spot for Fletcher.
