For the sixth time this season, Chase Briscoe has won the pole award. Let’s see if he has better luck this time around. Briscoe is set to lead the field to green at Iowa Speedway for the NASCAR Cup Series Iowa Corn 350.
Chase Briscoe has been a qualifying monster this season. He has absolutely nailed it with crew chief James Small and the crew back at the shop.
William Byron is going to start P2 on Sunday. He needs a strong race this weekend. Carson Hocevar AND Justin Haley are in the top-10. Spire Motorsports is flexing speed once again.

While Chase Briscoe has won six pole awards this season, his previous five have not resulted in a win yet. That is something this team has been working on this season. They haven’t carried the speed from qualifying over to race day very well.
There are a few interesting results from qualifying. Turn 1 was giving drivers issues in a big way. Kyle Busch starts in the back after wrecking in practice. He will race in a backup car on Sunday and try to salvage what he can this weekend at Iowa. Full starting lineup below:

With a healthy mix of Chevy, Toyota, and Ford speed in qualifying, I’m excited about Iowa. Last year, even with the strange repave, the race was really good. Ryan Blaney ended up coming out on top. But we will see if the track can replicate that from last season or give us an even more exciting race to watch.
This season, Chase Briscoe has won the pole at Daytona, Charlotte, Nashville, Michigan, Indianapolis, and now Iowa. In those previous five races, Briscoe has finished P4, P3, P17, P23, and P18. A mixed bag, for sure. And no wins.
Briscoe had two runner-up finishes at Sonoma and Dover, back-to-back. Then he had a tough Brickyard 400 to finish P18. This weekend, what is the expectation for the 19 team? I want to say that Briscoe fits into this Iowa track well, but we have seen this group have ups and downs all season long.
Briscoe is new to the Joe Gibbs Racing organization. It has taken him time to learn the car and the team itself. But we have seen these bright spots and the unreal speed the team has in qualifying.
Can Chase Briscoe make something of the pole this weekend and win the Iowa race? It would be a good boost just ahead of the NASCAR Playoffs.
