25 athletes who launched their own podcasts

In 2023, former NFL stars Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocino” Johnson launched their joint podcast Nightcap. The nighttime podcast features the two discussing the latest sports headlines and game takes across the NBA, NFL, and college sports. Since launching, the show has been nominated for several honors, including the Shorty Awards and the NAACP Image Awards. 

Lakers star LeBron James initially launched his Mind the Game podcast in 2024 alongside JJ Redick. However, once Redick took on the role as the Lakers’ head coach, he stepped away from the podcast, and Steve Nash became the new co-host. Mind the Game is a fan-favorite show as it focuses on detailed analysis and the mental aspect of basketball. The show also has episodes in which they feature special guests, some past players featured include Austin Reaves, Tyrese Haliburton, and Stephen Curry.

In 2024, the show won the iHeartMedia Podcast of the Year Award. 

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese knows how to get to the bag, and one of her many endeavors is her podcast, Unapologetically Angel. Reese typically has sit-down conversations with public figures across all entertainment including R&B singer Victoria Monét, reality TV star Olandria, rapper Wale, and WNBA legend Lisa Leslie. 

Back in 2019, former NBA stars Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson launched their podcast All The Smoke. Although the show primarily covers sports, the hosts also discuss other topics surrounding music, culture, social justice, and more. Since launching, Barnes and Jackson have interviewed several public figures on the show, including Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Will Smith, Kevin Hart, Candace Parker, Cheryl Miller, Kamala Harris, and Michelle Obama. 

In 2025, tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams launched their podcast Stockton Street which gives audiences insight into their lives, careers, mental health, entrepreneurship, and even some sibling rivalry stories. They’ve also interviewed a plethora of celebrities including Jeannie Buss, Mark Cuban, Shonda Rhimes, Ciara, and Kevin Hart. 

Draymond Green is easily one of the most outspoken NBA players on the court, so it was a no-brainer that he would have his own podcast, The Draymond Green Show. It’s the perfect opportunity for fans to hear Green’s raw and unfiltered takes about NBA headlines and basketball analysis. Since launching in 2021, Green has won a Webby People’s Voice Award and iHeart Sports Podcast of the Year. 

WNBA legend Sue Bird and former pro soccer player Megan Rapinoe are the hosts for A Touch More. In 2022, former NFL players Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder, and Fred Taylor joined forces to launch The Pivot Podcast. Some guests that have appeared on The Pivot  include Kevin Durant, Sterling K. Brown, Method Man, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tom Brady, Barack Obama, and more. 

In 2025, WNBA player Cameron Brink teamed up with longtime friend Sydel Curry-Lee on their joint podcast Straight to Cam. It focuses on a number of topics such as sports, dating, lifestyle, and pop culture news. Some guests have appeared on previous episodes, including Sue Bird, Lonzo Ball, Damion Lee, Terance Mann, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. 

In 2025, Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George launched his show Podcast P. Joined by his longtime friends Jackie Long and Dallas Rutherford, they use the podcast to discuss hot takes across the basketball world and interview special guests. Some players that have appeared on the show include Mike Miller, GG Jackson, Derek Fisher, Jamal Crawford, and Carmelo Anthony. 

WWE superstar Cory Rhodes is the host of What Do You Want to Talk About? On each episode, Rhodes interviews WWE stars, legends, and celebrities who are fans of the wrestling world. Some of his past interviews include John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Nikki Bella, and more. 

In 2023, former Boston Celtics stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce launched their podcast KG Certified. The two use the platform to talk about some of the biggest NBA headlines such as game recaps, MVP debates, and player trades. In addition to the hot topics, they sit down with some of the biggest names in sports including Tyrese Haliburton, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, as well as former NFL stars like Mike Vick and Deion Sanders.

In 2023, World Series champion and Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts launched his podcast  On Base with Mookie Betts. Each episode, Betts has a sit-down conversation with fellow baseball players. Since the launch, Betts has interviewed guests such as Tyler Glasnow, Freddie Freeman, J.P. Crawford, and Cedric Mullins. 

Six Feet Under with The Undertaker is hosted by WWE legend The Undertaker alongside his wife Michelle McCool. In 2020, Kevin Durant teamed up with co-host Eddie Gonzalez to launch their podcast, The ETCs, which focused on conversations about sports, music, and culture. Some of the show’s previous guests include Kyrie Irving, Issa Rae, J. Cole, Amar’e Stoudemire, JJ Redick, and more. 

Before JJ Redick took on the role as head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2024, he was building a name for himself across the podcasting world. Not only did he co-host alongside LeBron James for Mind the Game, back in 2020 he launched his podcast The Old Man and the Three, which featured interviews with some of the biggest names in sports.
