The Air Jordan 9 "Bred" is built on Chicago Bulls, black jersey, black sneaker energy. With that being its focus since it first released in 2018, I'd say mission accomplished. The AJ9s don't get the love they deserve. It's my favorite silhouette from a visual standpoint, although I think I may need a 15 in the model as the toe box is a little tight. Still, the Bred is a tried and true colorway that the AJ9 wears well. Let's talk sneakers.

Where Can You Buy the Air Jordan 9 'Bred Patent'?

This sneaker is mad expensive. If I could squeeze into a 14, it'll run me $1,000 on StockX. Unless they come with a fountain of youth and MJ's skill set, that's probably not a good investment for me. Still, StockX and GOAT are your best bets. No 2026 restock has been announced, so the secondary market is the only path to ownership right now — and prices have held above double retail for years, which tells you everything about demand.

What Makes This Colorway Stand Out?

The all-black sneaker energy is everywhere. And no sneaker does it better than the AJ9 "Bred." It shines in the right places and that pop of red, which is the Bred signature, doesn't fail. The black patent leather overlay wrapping the tonal leather upper is the move — Jordan Brand pulled off that balance in a way that reads more like a dress sneaker than a basketball retro.

Originally a 2002 player exclusive that sat in the vault for 16 years, the design has PE roots that give it a story most mass-release colorways simply don't have.

Should You Buy the Air Jordan 9 'Bred Patent'?

If you have the excess dough, and no children will go hungry because of your purchase, do you. As for me and my house, that's too much bread for the Bred. That said, the AJ9 silhouette is having a moment in 2026 — with the Space Jam dropping in August and the Flint Grey already back on shelves — so interest in the broader AJ9 catalog is only growing. If the Bred Patent is on your radar, now is as good a time as any to pull the trigger before prices climb further.
