OG Anunoby Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors are 13-18 on the year and sit 10th in the Eastern Conference.

Barring something crazy happening, like Kevin Durant suddenly becoming available, Toronto figures to be a seller rather than a buyer at the trade deadline.

One player who many are interested in is OG Anunoby.

“The entire league wants OG Anunoby,” ESPN NBA insider Zach Lowe said this week.

“Everybody wants OG Anunoby. If he ever gets traded, the price and picks are going to surprise people because it might be on par almost with what the Cavs gave up for Donovan Mitchell. It’s going to be a lot if it ever happens.”

Anunoby is averaging 18.7 points per game season and leading the league in steals. The fervor in him is relatively unsurprising, all things considered.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, the New York Knicks have a lot of interest in Anunoby.

“Before Knicks went on their winning streak, someone from the club reached out to the Raptors to ask about trading for OG Anunoby,” he reported.

That said, New York seems to realize that any deal for him would come at a “significant cost.” Whether they are willing to pay that price or not remains to be seen.

The Knicks have been in the headlines quite a bit in recent days. First and foremost, their winning streak is certainly impressive.

Beyond that, though – there were also their holiday photos which caused quite a stir. And then of course their public position on Carmelo Anthony, which caught some folks by surprise.

New York has a ton of momentum right now. There is no denying that.

The question is whether that will make them more reluctant or less reluctant to make a big move with the likes of the Raptors.

One way or another, the answer to that question should emerge soon enough.
