Kyrie Irving is one of the top point guards in the NBA, and there is no doubt that he is a transcendent talent who has got the full package offensively. Irving has the best handles in the league, can score from anywhere on the court and create for himself, and is a solid enough playmaker.

While a lot of the time, we hear about Kyrie Irving for his exploits on the court, it seems as though he has made the news for different reasons. Yaron Weitzman of FOX Sports has reported that Kyrie Irving has "yet to get his shot" of the COVID-19 vaccine, and in his Tweet Weitzman claims that "Vaccination status could impact the NBA title race".

One player who could be affected is Nets guard Kyrie Irving. According to multiple league sources, Irving has yet to receive a vaccine shot. Both the Nets and a spokeswoman for Irving declined to comment on the record about Irving’s vaccination status, but Nets general manager Sean Marks was asked during a news conference on Tuesday whether New York City’s mandate could sideline any of his team’s players.

"Regarding if they could play today, I can't comment on who could play and so forth. There would obviously be a couple people missing from that picture," Marks said. "I won't get into who it is, but we feel confident in the following several days before camp everybody would be allowed to participate and so forth."

Vaccination status could potentially affect Kyrie Irving's ability to play home games, though it seems as if Sean Marks is confident that they'll be able to work things out about his availability.

There are other players who are currently at risk for being unavailable for home games, and it has been reported that the Warriors are growing "increasingly concerned" about forward Andrew Wiggins' availability due to his vaccination status. Each team will likely handle things in their own manner, and hopefully, we are able to see most players be able to suit up next season.
