Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas remains one of the top players available in the market. Because he’s a restricted free agent, the team can match any offer from him.
While there has been some concern that Thomas could eventually join another team, renowned NBA insider Jake Fischer said that the 23-year-old scorer has a higher chance of staying with the Brooklyn Nets since he doesn’t have many suitors.
“Cam Thomas—no—does not really have a market, to my understanding,” Fischer said on a Bleacher Report live stream. “Josh Giddey also—I think people know what his price tag, he would like it to be. We’ve heard he wants $30 million as well. I don’t see a widespread market for that on the open market right now too.”
According to NetsDaily, Thomas could command a deal up to $100 million over four years, which might be the reason there’s not much interest in him from rival teams.
The Brooklyn Nets have re-signed Ziaire Williams and Day’Ron Sharpe to new two-year deals and acquired Michael Porter Jr. and Terance Mann via trades. On the other hand, D’Angelo Russell and Trendon Watford joined the Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers, while Cameron Johnson was dealt in the Michael Porter Jr. trade.
According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, the Brooklyn Nets are among the teams vying for Jonathan Kuminga’s services, especially since they have the assets to offer to the Golden State Warriors in a potential sign-and-trade.
“The Golden State Warriors, according to league sources, have been searching for a promising young player plus a first-round pick in return for Kuminga, should they ultimately choose to part with him in a sign-and-trade scenario,” Slater wrote. “The Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, and Brooklyn Nets have also registered varying levels of interest, league sources said.”
