With the Miami Heat completing a blockbuster trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team makes a league-altering move that could put them in line to be potential championship contenders depending on further moves this offseason and beyond. However, with the Heat missing out on the LeBron James sweepstakes, Bill Simmons took the opportunity to take digs at the franchise.
Known Boston Celtics fan and has taken a lot of shots at Miami in the past, he did another one in using NSFW language (viewer discretion advised) to call out the team for James not signing with them, instead going to the Philadelphia 76ers. Making other predictions based on missing out on James, his co-host Joe House would join him.
“Miami, they got d--- teased! Nice and hard by LeBron and his camp. They had that $8.5M spot burning a hole in their pocket, and now they’re lookin at Bradley Beal and DeMar DeRozan. AHHHHH! — I’d have Indiana over them…They made all their moves,” Simmons said, via video from Heat Central on X, formerly Twitter.
“Well, those guys deserve eight and a half million,” LeBron deserves 80 and a half million, but yeah. I almost said Miami as my number one biggest loser because there’s nothing they can do. They’re so f-----. Like, there is nothing in terms of assets, roster moves going forward,” House said.
As Simmons mentions, the Heat’s shift in focus now goes to other options in free agency and potentially the buyout market, as the reported “priority” is with sharpshooter Klay Tjompsin, who is still under contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Other names linked to Miami are DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal, Russell Westbrook, and others.
