Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum Reacts to Jaylen Brown Bagging ECF MVP Vs. Indiana Pacers
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics have done it. After what turned out to be a short-lived ECF war against the Indiana Pacers, the Celtics are now back in the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons.

This has been thanks in large part to incredible performances from superstar forward Jaylen Brown throughout the series. So much so, that Brown has been recognized as the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP — and rightfully so.

Boston Celtics News: Jayson Tatum Reacts to Jaylen Brown’s ECF MVP Win

The man Brown beat out for the MVP title is none other than his own teammate, Jayson Tatum, who won the inaugural ECF MVP trophy back in 2022. For his part, Tatum had some praise reserved for Brown and his “special” achievement:

“It was special,” Tatum said. “… To be rewarded for how you played. That’s a special accomplishment.”

Brown capped off his four-game surge with a team-high 29-point performance in Game 4, to go along with six rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a block in 44 minutes of action. The three-time All-Star also knocked down four triples to lead the Celtics to a 105-102 victory.

Jrue Holiday Heaps Praise on Jaylen Brown

Celtics guard Jrue Holiday had even more commendation for Brown. Holiday, who has helped Boston reach the Finals in his first season with the squad, expressed his admiration for Brown’s team-first mentality:

“It’s even better because he didn’t expect it,” Holiday said of Brown’s MVP win. “… When you see great people get rewarded for the things that they do, it brings joy.”

There’s no denying that Brown deserves to lift the ECF MVP trophy this time around. It’s also true that he will need to keep his foot on the gas if the Celtics are to go all the way and finally win it al this season.
