During Spectrum SportsNet coverage, plenty of people have been asking the same question lately: How much does LeBron James still have left? The Los Angeles Lakers entered their playoff opener with concerns around health and scoring support, but James did, in fact, shut down the noise. Against the Houston Rockets, the 41-year-old ran the game like a master conductor, reminding everyone that elite basketball IQ ages differently.

The Lakers grabbed a 107-98 Game 1 win, and James was at the center of everything. He posted 19 points on 60 percent shooting, added nine rebounds, handed out 13 assists, and picked off two steals. The biggest damage came early, when he piled up eight assists in the first quarter alone. With Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves dealing with injury concerns, James controlled the pace, created easy looks, and kept the offense humming all night.

That performance led former Lakers guard Derek Fisher to drop a bold comparison.

“We could say this is his Magic Johnson era right now. You can stixll win championships with a guy like him leading the charge.”

Speaking after the game, Fisher said James is now in his Magic Johnson era. It was high praise, but hard to argue with after this showing.

LeBron James Makes NBA History As Lakers Beat Rockets In Game 1

James heard the doubts and answered fast. The Lakers beat the Rockets 107-98 in Game 1, with the 41-year-old running the show despite questions about carrying the load without Doncic and Reaves. Houston also missed Kevin Durant, and LA took full advantage.

James went full-floor general mode early, dishing eight first-quarter assists, the most he has ever recorded in a playoff quarter. He finished with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 13 assists, then dropped nine in the fourth to close it out.

The night also came with history. LeBron James became the oldest player ever to post a points-assists double-double in the playoffs, and the oldest to record 10-plus assists in a postseason game.
