Draymond Green Will Not Try To Put Pressure On Warriors To Make Win-Now Move

The Golden State Warriors won the championship during the 2021-22 season, but have been an inconsistent team this year. Many have suggested that the team needs to make a win-now move to improve its depth.

A recent report from Jack Simone of Heavy revealed that Draymond Green is usually the player to push for "organization changes" and make "noise with the front office". However, that likely won't happen this season, as his situation with the team has changed after the incident with Jordan Poole.

With the trade deadline just a couple of weeks away on February 9, there have been some questions regarding what the Warriors plan to do. And according to sources who spoke with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports, while Draymond Green would usually be the one to speak up on organization changes, “things are different” this year.

“Normally, it would be Draymond who would be the one making noise with the front office about, ‘You need to do this and that,’ but things are different with Draymond now after the [Jordan] Poole incident. He is not going to make more waves there,” a Western Conference executive told Deveney.

Even if Draymond Green won't be the one pushing for organizational changes, there is still a chance that a move could happen. Though the Warriors are not trying to trade their young players at this moment, they could end up changing their minds ahead of the trade deadline.

Stephen Curry Could Force The Warriors To Rethink Trading Their Young Players

A recent report suggested that the Golden State Warriors could change their mind on trading their young players if Stephen Curry was to have a talk with ownership. The executive quoted in the report mentioned that Curry is a player you "absolutely have to listen to".

Then there are, of course, the Warriors, who have signaled they won’t be very active at the deadline—though many around the league believe that will change. The Warriors need help up front, but there is some panic within the organization about the fact that the team’s bench has just not come together this year. Ownership remains reluctant to break up the young trio of James Wiseman, Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga, but some strong internal voices could force a rethink on that.

Who? Easy: “Steph Curry,” the executive said. “If he says to ownership, ‘You’ve got to get some help for right now, not for down the road,’ then that will go a long way. There’s only a few players you absolutely have to listen to, and Steph is one. Beasley would be a good bench piece for them if they wanted to trade off one of the young guys.”

There is no doubt that a win-now move is the optimal course of action for the Golden State Warriors. They don't have to trade all of their young players to improve their depth, and a small move to help their rotation is all they need.

Hopefully, we see the Golden State Warriors eventually make a move for a player that can contribute immediately. They need to maximize Stephen Curry while he is still playing at a high level, and we'll see what happens in the future.
