The Magic have struggled to meet expectations in 2025-26 and remain in a tight race near the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, as Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel writes.
Orlando has played roughly .500 basketball since a 10-4 start in November and entered Sunday just a half-game ahead of the 10th-place Heat.
According to Bianchi, head coach Jamahl Mosley could ultimately be held responsible for the team’s underwhelming season, though he suggests that outcome may be misguided.
The Magic have dealt with injuries to key players, including Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black, which have impacted their ability to build consistency.
Still, Bianchi points to issues beyond health, including lapses in effort and physicality in key games, such as losses to Toronto and Atlanta while attempting to improve their playoff positioning.
Bianchi concludes that a potential coaching change would be more about addressing team-wide disappointment than Mosley’s performance.
