Kings Predicted to Send Malik Monk to Magic for Young $55 Million Duo to Fill 2 Key Roster Needs
Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

It has been an interesting offseason thus far for the Sacramento Kings as they have kept their core together instead of beginning a rebuild like many around the NBA expected they would do.

Because of this, the Kings are set to enter the 2025-26 season with their star trio of Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine leading the way as they try to make the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference.

Sacramento also made some key additions to their roster this offseason as they added both Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the 2025 draft and signed Dennis Schroder in free agency.

By making these moves, the Kings are hopeful that they have built a roster capable of making the playoffs this season, though more moves could be on the way.

One player for the Kings who could be moved ahead of the new season is veteran guard Malik Monk who continues to be in trade rumors.

Kings predicted to trade Malik Monk to Magic

Because of this, Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley recently released a mock trade that has the Kings sending Monk to the Orlando Magic for a young duo.

In the trade, Sacramento would send Monk and a 2031 first-round pick to Orlando for Anthony Black and Jett Howard.

Of course, the Kings are in desperate need of adding a true backup point guard behind Schroder as well as more wing depth to their roster.

By making this trade, they would be able to do both as Black would fit well behind Schroder as their new backup point guard while Howard would give them more depth at the forward position.

For Black, he took a major step forward with the Magic last season as he put together the best season of his young NBA career.

The 21-year-old guard averaged 9.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 42.3% from the field and 31.8% from three.

Black is a solid scorer and playmaker, though he does need to improve his three-point shooting and he could do so in Sacramento as he would likely see an increase in minutes compared to his time in Orlando.

For Howard, he has struggled to find minutes in his two seasons with the Magic but if this deal were to happen, he would likely have a much larger role with the Kings.

The 21-year-old forward has shown flashes of being a solid all-around player and with an increase in minutes, he could turn into a key player for the Kings.

While this trade could work out well for Sacramento, it would be a tough decision for the Magic to move on from two of their key players as they try to make a run at the top seed in the Eastern Conference this season.
