Major update emerges on James Harden’s weapons case

James Harden will definitely be sleeping well tonight.

Officials have formally dropped the misdemeanor weapons charge that the former NBA MVP Harden was facing stemming from his arrest earlier this summer. Edward Lewis of The California Post reports that prosecutors in Harris County, Texas filed a motion to dismiss the case after Harden completed an “alternative resolution agreement.”

Harden, who turns 37 later this month, was arrested on June 13. He was pulled over for an alleged traffic violation in the greater Houston area and reportedly had an unholstered handgun in his car in plain sight of officers (read the full details here).

The mug shot of Harden was then released several days later.

An 11-time NBA All-Star, Harden averaged 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season. With his weapons charge officially being dismissed, Harden can now focus fully on signing a new contract with Cleveland (though he is reportedly waiting on one player before doing so).
