The Memphis Grizzlies could see their star player rediscover his explosiveness and set the league alight next season.

2025 has been quite the turbulent year for the Memphis Grizzlies. In one of the shocking personnel moves in recent memory, the Grizzlies fired Taylor Jenkins near the end of the season.

It was a bizarre move, given that Jenkins, at one point, had led the Grizzlies to the second seed in the Western Conference.

Replacing Jenkins as Grizzlies coach was Tuomas Iisalo. And after a disappointing playoff exit, the Grizzlies chose to break up their core, trading Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic.

But luckily for them, the Grizzlies still have an All-NBA caliber player on their roster, who is eager to remind the league why he was once considered a top prospect.

Ja Morant will return to All-Star glory next season

The last few years have been very difficult for Ja Morant. The young superstar entered the NBA and immediately established himself as a next-level talent.

After winning Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Player in his first three seasons, Morant found himself embroiled in off-court issues that threatened to derail his career.

While Morant’s behavior issues are still prevalent, he has shown that he is committed to building a solid NBA career for himself.

With all the issues the Grizzlies experienced last season, Morant quietly had himself a strong season, averaging 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Now, with a Grizzlies team that doesn’t have high expectations, Morant will have more of the ball in his hands than ever before, and could remind the NBA why he is a future superstar.

Memphis Grizzlies must figure out way to build around Ja Morant

In the immediate aftermath of Desmond Bane’s departure, there were concerns that the Memphis Grizzlies would blow up their roster and trade Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Several teams would leap at the chance to land Morant, as he is still one of the NBA’s brightest young prospects.

However, the Grizzlies have no intention of moving and eyeing their long-term goal of building a contender around Morant and Jackson Jr.

If that is the goal, then they must begin hoarding as many draft assets as possible, as they won’t be able to attract a big-name free agent and will have to make a big trade instead.
