Miami Heat Fans Named As The Most Negative Fanbase In The NBA: "Sounds About Right"
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

According to some research conducted on Twitter, Miami Heat fans are the most negative followed by New York Knicks fans and Golden State Warriors fans.

The NBA and basketball, in general, are beautiful products that millions across the world enjoy. But everything around the game can't be positive, too much money and too many emotions are involved for that to happen. As such, players, referees, coaches, and owners are all subject to vitriol and hate being thrown at them anytime a franchise isn't doing well.

However, some fanbases can grow too large or too entitled, success leads to fans claiming teams without really engaging with the sport itself. This means that narratives can get created easily, and certain players can become targets. And success is expected to last, so when the teams struggle, the large fanbases can turn toxic pretty fast. And a recent analysis post has gone viral on Twitter, with the criteria being finding out which fanbase is the most negative in the NBA.

Based on a sample size of 75,000 tweets checked for negative sentiment, the Miami Heat fans have claimed the top spot. This isn't surprising to most people, especially not if you ask Kyle Lowry. The usual suspects follow them, the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, and Philadelphia 76ers fanbases are notorious for having big expectations and vocally expressing their disappointment.

NBA Fans Reacted To The Analysis Naming The Most Negative Fanbases In The NBA

There is not a single fanbase in the league that is exempt from having bad apples ruining their reputations. Boston Celtics fans have even been called out by the game's greatest stars for issues with racism, as have the Utah Jazz. But with something like this going viral, it didn't stop fans from slinging mud at the teams that were mentioned, with the replies becoming a prime ground for some hilarious roasting.

"This sounds about right."

"Heat fans are actually insufferable."

"This makes total sense to me."

"I'm surprised Golden State aren't top with 70%."

"Anyone surprised by this is lying to themselves."

"Knicks and Sixers should be the Top 2."

"Kyle Lowry is responsible for these results."

"Lakers are nowhere to be found?"

"Why are Heat fans so mad lol?"

"Not having Suns fans in there tells me this is fake."

"Y'all don't know Nets fans clearly."

Any analysis like this can never be a truly accurate representation, but it's fun for fans to use to banter among themselves. Being passionate is what makes the sport as much fun as it is, but some of these fans could do with being less negative. Overall, perhaps it is simply best to ignore the ones that are constantly being negative.
