Nuggets Star Is Quietly Having His Best Season Yet
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets have been playing their hearts out and are now the best team in the West with an impressive 24-12 record.

They have overcome the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Phoenix Suns, and others to rise to the top, something they have been eager to do for years now.

Things have really come together for the Nuggets, who are no longer only relying on the star power of two-time back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic.

There are a few star players on the team who are making all of this success possible.

Take Aaron Gordon, for example: while he’s never been the most talked-about player in Denver, he has accumulated the best numbers of his career so far this season.

He is averaging 17.3 points (career-high), 6.6 rebounds, and a 60.8% field goal percentage (also career-high).

Gordon’s fingerprints have been all over a string of recent victories and he has proven himself as a vital part of this resurging Nuggets roster.

On New Year’s Day, Gordon was good for 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists in a major win against the Boston Celtics.

That was just the latest in a string of impressive outings.

Gordon originally played for the Orlando Magic when he entered the league and was there until being traded to the Nuggets in the 2020-21 season.

It took Gordon some time to find his footing but it’s clear that he has adjusted to the team and is ready to play hard every night.

He has started in every game he’s played for in Denver and has gradually and quietly gotten better.

His greatness couldn’t have come at a better time, now that the team has Jokic, Bones Hyland, Bruce Brown, and Jamal Murray back in the rotation.
