With Patrick Dumont taking charge, the Dallas Mavericks front office reset is officially in motion. After a season of change and transition, the franchise is now locked into one clear priority: find the right voice to lead the basketball side long-term.

This isn’t just a routine hire. With rookie centerpiece Cooper Flagg already shaping the future timeline, Dallas wants stability, structure, and a vision that can scale into the next era. The search is being treated like a franchise-defining move.

On April 12, 2026, Mavericks governor Dumont laid out the roadmap, speaking on the urgency without rushing the process. Via reports from Dallas News, he confirmed the goal is to have a new GM in place by mid-May, ideally before the 2026 NBA Draft.

“Monday morning, we’re going to get active, and we’re going to talk to a lot of people… And we’re going to do our best to make sure that we find the best possible candidate to lead our basketball organization… Our goal is to have someone on board by the middle of May.”

Dumont stressed a wide search, starting Monday, and targeting top-tier executives across the league. Names linked include Sam Presti, Brad Stevens, Tim Connelly, Koby Altman, and Bob Myers. The current interim duo of Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi is reportedly also in the mix.
