C's waive Gaffney, and other tidbits

All the rookies had to know coming into camp that their chances of making this team were slim-to-none.  Well, slim took a smoke break on Tony Gaffney today "Numbers, just a lot of numbers [in front] of him," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said when asked about Gaffney's departure. "He plays extremely hard. He's one of those guys that you would love to figure out a way to keep him...

Celtics Cut Tony Gaffney

I'm very sad to see that the Celtics cut Tony Gaffney.  I was really pulling for this kid.  I love his attitude and his work ethic.  To me he seemed to be just what the Celtics needed behind Paul Pierce and Marquis Daniels.   I guess Danny has decided to go with offense rather than defense at that position unless he has a trade in mind to back up the SF spot.  That leaves two non...

Random Thoughts as Danny Works out the Multitudes

Tony Gaffney's my choice for that 15th spot.   Seems like every day we get news of someone else that Danny is working out.    Adam Morrison has been in for a couple of workouts.   KG's former teammates Trenton Hassell and Rashad McCants have been in for workouts.  Cuttino Mobley has been in for workouts.  Mario West is reportedly coming by to work out for the club.   Danny also extended...

Tony Gaffney's Ready to Compete

With the Celtics signing of Delonte West, Tony Gaffney's chances of making the team he's dreamed about playing for since his childhood took a big hit. He's not ready to give up though. In fact he's working even harder. Personally I think his best shot at grabbing one of the 15 spots is if he outplays Harangody or Erden in camp. There's also the possibility that if Von Wafer doesn...

Tony Gaffney shows off his Celtics bedroom

The guy interviewing him is Henry Abbott from ESPN. Yeah, the "expert" who always picks against the Celtics. Seems like a decent guy though. Just not very basketball smart I guess. What a dream this all must be for Gaffney. Notice the CelticsLife background as his bedroom floor? Would love to hear Danny speak some more on Gaffney's and Lafayette's futures with the team. It can wait a week though.

Tony Gaffney's Celtics shrine

Henry Abbott of ESPN's True Hoop got a tour of Tony Gaffney's childhood home... and shrine to the Boston Celtics. My favorite part of this video is him talking about being out in his driveway pretending to be Paul Pierce.  It's funny to think that Tony Gaffney was 14 when Paul Pierce was a rookie.  So when he was in high school, Paul Pierce was just starting out his C's career. Now...
