3 Underrated Waiver Wire Pickups to Help Win Your Fantasy Football League

With another exciting season of NFL football set to kick off in just a few short days, that also means that the fantasy football season is back. Mostly everyone is finished their drafts by now, but that doesn’t mean that the quest for a league championship needs to be put on pause until the games start.

Most years, team managers will find hidden gems on the waiver wire, who win them their league, and this season is no different.

Here are three sleepers available in the majority of leagues, who can help you put your league mates to shame for not getting on the hype train sooner.

3) Kareem Hunt – Kansas City Chiefs

At first glance this doesn’t seem like a sleeper, but the former fantasy heavyweight is currently rostered in just 13% of ESPN leagues.

In the two months that Hunt played without Chiefs starting running back Isiah Pacheco last season, he posted the 13th most points among all fantasy running backs.

Even when Pacheco returned, Kansas City played the two in a split backfield where Hunt was still RB29 from Week 13 on. That may not be starting level production, but it’s certainly enough production for a flex option.

With these two still working in a split backfield through preseason, it’s a mystery as to why Hunt isn’t on more rosters.

2) Jalen Coker – Carolina Panthers

This undrafted free agent had an unbelievable rookie season, recording nearly 500 yards to go along with two touchdowns in just 11 games.

He didn’t play much this preseason, but he was so impressive in training camp that Carolina unloaded slot wide receiver Adam Thielen to open up a starting spot for Coker.

Unfortunately, the team placed him on injured reserve late last week, but that’s even more of a reason to pick him up.

Don’t sleep on him while he’s injured and get burned when he finally returns and goes scorched Earth with Bryce Young, who he developed a nice connection with this offseason.

1) Ollie Gordon II – Miami Dolphins

This sixth-round rookie was easily the most impressive running back in the Dolphins’ preseason rotation, which makes it a surprise that he’s only rostered in 34% of ESPN leagues at the moment.

Much like Miami’s starting running back, De’Von Achane, Gordon II is quick and shifty with the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

The appeal with Gordon II is that Achane is already limping into the season and with an alarming injury history already, it seems inevitable that he’ll miss time at some point this season. When that time comes, Gordon II will get most of the carries.

With Achane’s alarmingly low yards per carry apart from his long runs, there’s a chance Gordon II keeps the job, making him the biggest sleeper who could help you win your league.
