3 weirdest Lions predictions for the 2025 NFL season

While we can sit here and argue that Aidan Hutchinson is on track to becoming a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, or that Jared Goff could actually become an MVP candidate with another year similar to his 2024 campaign, it's just as fun to talk about some strange ways this season can go for the Detroit Lions.

We're talking absurdities of football that could very well impact the Lions this season (not actually, but for the sake of argument, bare with me). All the referees calling out sick, fans being called upon to play in the game due to a lack of healthy bodies, those types of absurdities. Stuff you've never seen happen in an NFL game before will happen, in these predictions, to the Lions.

3 weird predictions for the Lions in 2025 NFL season

Roary will need to play center

Roary, described by the Lions as "taller than your average Lion" and "heavy," could be the perfect solution for Detroit at center if Graham Glasgow doesn't pan out. The veteran already saw a minor leg injury impact him during training camp, so his durability might be a slight question headed into the year.

Rookie Tate Ratledge could play center, but he's better at guard. That leaves a hole that's Roary-sized. He holds the Ford Field record for most hugs given during a single Lions game per the team, but hopefully, he's able to transition from hugs to blocking by just opening his arms a bit.

Isaac TeSlaa forces NFL to create a Best Touchdown Celebration award

Isaac TeSlaa has burst onto the scene for the Lions this season as a rookie with major promise. The potential WR3 is set to challenge veteran Tim Patrick in the Lions' depth chart, and some of the other Lions on the team as the best dancer on the squad. His worm after scoring his final touchdown of the preseason was genuinely a thing of beauty.

TeSlaa's celebrations are about to be so good, that the NFL does a complete 180 as to how they've treated these celebrations the last few seasons and instead decide to allow players to compete for Best Touchdown Celebration honors. A trailblazing Razorback, indeed.

Grant Stuard has a passing touchdown

Stuard has become a Lions fan favorite with his tough nosed play and fiery attitude during training camp and preseason. The veteran linebacker is likely to be a punt returner for the Lions, and is clearly a great linebacker option for Detroit.

Have the Lions considered what else Stuard can do? Namely, can they utilize him on a Dan Campbell-esque trick play that lands him a passing touchdown to Jared Goff? Stuard clearly has the ability to adapt into whatever Detroit needs him to be. Becoming a threat from the pocket would just be the cherry on top.
