With the NFL season already halfway done, some NFL teams are already fighting for a playoff spot.

However, some of those teams will come up short in their attempt.

But what two teams, who have a shot at the playoffs, will probably come up short in their endeavors?

2. New England Patriots

While the New England Patriots are last in their division, they are right outside the cusp of making the playoffs.

However, a situation at the quarterback position might hold them back from reaching the playoffs.

While some were impressed with Bailey Zappe, who won two games with Mac Jones injured, he isn’t taking over the starting job.

But even Jones’ poor play isn’t enough to give Zappe the starting job.

While Jones was pulled during the Patriots home loss to the Chicago Bears, he still kept his starting job.

With him continuing to have a poor season, it’s his play that will destroy the chances of the Patriots making the playoffs.

1. Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons came into their Thursday night game during week 10 with a chance to stay atop the NFC South.

However, their loss to the Carolina Panthers leaves the door open for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While the team has a slim shot at a wild card spot, they could have won their division.

But their poor play is showing, and will hold them back from winning a disastrous NFC South.

The combination of poor play, and the Bucs improving, will keep them out of the playoffs.
