Ellis Mcgaskin has committed to Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame, giving the Fighting Irish their second commitment of the 2027 recruiting cycle.

McGaskin attends Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama, and he garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites.

The Alabama product chose Notre Dame over offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee and others. The Fighting Irish recently hosted the four-star and impressed Mcgaskin during his visit to South Bend.

“The culture is different,” McGaskin told Touchdown Alabama. “Marcus Freeman is one of a kind. He was interacting with every recruit and making time to speak and connect with all of us. That meant a lot to me. The atmosphere was amazing, and the hospitality that they showed my parents was amazing.”

McGaskin is confident in the Notre Dame coaching staff, and he feels he belongs in South Bend.

“I wanted to compete for a championship and have the opportunity to play early at the next level,” said McGaskin. “I feel they can continue their recent success of being in the National Championship. From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew I wanted to be here and be a part of something special. Me and my father felt right at home immediately. They showed me I was a priority. I want to help them take the next step and bring a championship to South Bend.”

Last season, The 6-foot-1 215 pound McGaskin posted 130 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and four sacks.
