Not a lot has gone right for the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2025 season, but Ashton Jeanty is one of the few bright spots the team can look to.

Jeanty got off to a slow start this year, but has since come on strong for the Raiders and looks the part of a true workhorse running back. Unfortunately for Jeanty, Las Vegas has been in negative game scripts far too often for them to rely on his vision, burst, and explosiveness in the run game.

Las Vegas should already be looking to prepare for next season, though Week 12 offers an intriguing matchup they could possibly win. The Raiders are set to take on the Cleveland Browns, who will be starting Shedeur Sanders for the first time this season.

Jeanty described his relationship with Sanders, but also issued a warning to his fellow rookie via Eduardo Razo of Heavy.com:

“I got to know him pretty well,” Jeanty said about Sanders while speaking to the media on November 19. “[I am] excited for him. [It] should be a great opportunity for him, but I know my defense is going to come ready to attack him. He better be ready.”

Sanders started the season playing behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel, but drew his first career start after the former was traded, and the latter got hurt last week. Sanders was widely considered to be a first-round talent in the 2025 NFL Draft — and even in consideration for the Raiders at No. 6, where they took Jeanty — before he slipped all the way to the fifth round.

Reported concerns over Sanders’ personality and character were flagged as reasons why he fell so far in the draft, but for Cleveland, he represented the perfect gamble on Day 3. Sanders has good pocket presence and the accuracy to layer throws, but he often forces plays that can get him into trouble.

Las Vegas’ defense has been fairly stingy against quarterbacks, so it’ll be interesting to see if they can make Sanders miserable this Sunday.

Ashton Jeanty shares telling message after Chiefs loss

There have already been a few blowout losses this season, but the Raiders were thoroughly embarrassed by the Kansas City Chiefs, where they were shut out 31-0. It was an ugly performance in every phase, especially offensively as the team couldn’t move the football no matter what they tried.

Ashton Jeanty was bottled up on the ground, and afterwards, he didn’t mince words about his or the Raiders’ performance.
