Bills Get Bad News on QB Josh Allen's Injury

The Buffalo Bills are having a time of it putting away the New England Patriots (3-11), but things got considerably worse early in the fourth quarter.

It was reported earlier this week that quarterback Josh Allen suffered a broken left hand, his non-throwing hand, in Week 1 of this season. However, early in the fourth quarter Allen appeared to hurt his right hand, and the severity of the injury is unclear.

Allen threw a pass that looked weak and wobbly and was entirely uncharacteristic of a man who has arguably the strongest arm in the NFL. Cameras caught Allen favoring the hand and fidgeting as he walked off the field following an unsuccessful third-down play.

The QB continued shaking the hand in obvious discomfort on the sidelines, as Buffalo's defense broke up a lateral pass near the Patriots' end zone and recovered the football for a touchdown, taking a 24-14 lead.

Allen did come back into the game after suffering what announcers described as an elbow contusion on his throwing arm. It was not immediately clear if the elbow was causing issues in Allen's right hand, or if he suffered a separate issue there.

A further update is expected during the postgame interviews, with more detailed information to follow if the quarterback requires any testing to confirm the severity of the injury/injuries (X-ray, MRI, etc).

The Bills offense did not score another point in the game following Allen's injury.
