Bills GM comments on potential Odell Beckham Jr. pursuit

Add Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane to the list of executives thinking about free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this fall.

"OBJ’s a heck of a talent," Beane said about Beckham while speaking with reporters on Wednesday, per Adam Gorski of Buffalo's WIVB. "If we did, you have to remember there’s financials, there’s roles, there’s all sorts of things that would have to line up. A guy of his talent, of course we’d look into that."

Beckham has repeatedly been linked with the Bills since linebacker Von Miller, OBJ's teammate with the Los Angeles Rams throughout the second half of the 2021 season, teased last month that he's working on convincing the three-time Pro Bowl selection to join him in Buffalo. Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White has also apparently been recruiting Beckham:

On Tuesday, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported that "the prevailing thought in league circles continues to be that Beckham will end up in Buffalo." However, Beckham hasn't yet rejected potential returns to the Rams or the New York Giants, and clubs such as the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys have also been listed as potential future homes for the pass-catcher who turns 30 years old Saturday.

Beckham presumably still isn't cleared coming off the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee he suffered this past February. Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk noted Wednesday that "there have been differing reports about when Beckham will be ready to play with the timeline varying from the middle of this month to the middle of December."

One thing the Bills have in their favor regarding talks with Beckham is that they started the season at 6-1 without his services. Barring an unforeseen collapse or an injury-related disaster, Buffalo should be at or near the very top of the overall AFC standings by the time Beckham is again able to face a live defense.
