The Denver Broncos' biggest offseason addition for quarterback Bo Nix was tight end, Evan Engram. The Broncos signed Engram to a two-year, $23 million deal, with $16.5 million guaranteed.
Nix now enters his second year in the NFL with his No. 1 receiver in Courtland Sutton and a safety blanket at tight end in Engram. The veteran tight end is a two-time Pro-Bowler who caught nearly 1,000 yards in 2023, his last fully healthy season.
As Broncos' training camp got underway this week, Engram spoke with the media on Friday about the team culture and work ethic of his new team.
"You know, that's probably my favorite thing about being a Bronco right now. Just the way that this team connects, the way they push each other, the way they challenge each other," Engram said. "The way that we that we bonded, just the standard that we have for ourselves.
"Just the camaraderie we have, the laughs that we have. It's an incredible locker room. A lot of great leaders, you know, I tell people, all my family, like, it's hard to be the first one in the building."
That connection and drive to get better every day stems from Broncos' head coach Sean Payton and quarterback Bo Nix. Payton has emphasized hard work and constant improvement since he arrived in Denver, and Nix has been praised by multiple teammates and his coaches for his diligence in improving.

Whether it's meeting with a 13-time Pro-Bowler and Super Bowl MVP in Drew Brees, or getting his teammates together in the offseason to build chemistry and camaraderie, Nix has displayed plenty of leadership and drive this offseason.
Engram continued to dive into the Broncos' high standards and level of competition and took a shot at his former team.
"I'm used to being the first one. In Jacksonville. I was always the first one. It was really easy. Here it's kind of tough," Engram said. "A lot of guys, you know, doing it at the highest level. It's just a contagious environment, and we all want to get better and we all have high standards that we all want to achieve together."
Engram spent five years with the New York Giants and three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars before signing with Denver this offseason. The veteran tight end has been impressed by his new Broncos teammates early on, and all signs seem positive coming out of Denver.
