The Cleveland Browns are gearing up for their Week 12 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers but will do so without left tackle Dawand Jones. The rookie lineman suffered a fractured left leg during the Browns’ 35-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints

The injury occurred late in the first half when Jones was accidentally rolled into by teammate Wyatt Teller, prompting medical staff to place him in an air cast before carting him off the field.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed postgame that Jones, a 2023 fourth-round pick, will miss the remainder of the season. Stefanski assured fans that Jones is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2025 campaign. In his absence, Germain Ifedi stepped in at left tackle, though Stefanski hinted at the possible return of Jedrick Wills ahead of the quick turnaround against the Steelers.

Amid the physical challenges, Jones faced criticism off the field. During an appearance on Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, commentator Adam “The Bull” Gerstenhaber questioned Jones’ reliability.

“I think Dawand is one of those players that you have to go into a season not counting on. If he’s there and he can play, okay. But you can’t rely on that guy because he’s got a weight problem. I don’t know him personally, so I don’t know. Most likely, he’s got an addiction when it comes to food, and it’s very hard to overcome.

"He’s probably going to gain a ton of weight dealing with this injury. I would not be surprised. He has already in two years been hurt four or five times. There’s no way the Browns can go into next season saying we’ve got our left tackle.” Said Gerstenhaber.

Jones, took time on social media to humorously point out the irony of the situation while also reassuring his readiness for next season.

“I think we both have a weight problem, but I’ll be better this offseason,” wrote Jones in response to the post.

Meanwhile, the Browns are preparing for a tough matchup against the AFC North’s top team the Pittsburgh Steelers, who boast one of the league’s best defenses led by star pass rusher T.J. Watt.

The Browns’ offensive line will need to step up to keep quarterback Jameis Winston off his back while their defense will contend with keeping quarterback Russell Wilson’s passing attack in check.
