Cole Kmet’s wife reacts to Chicago Bears’ tribute

The Bears recently marked the six-year anniversary of Kmet’s arrival in Chicago with a social media tribute. The franchise selected the Notre Dame tight end on April 24, 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tribute included photos and videos from his draft day, along with celebrations held by his family and community. 

One of the videos showed an emotional Kmet receiving a FaceTime call from then-head coach Matt Nagy. He was surrounded by his family at their home in Arlington Heights when the call came in. The clip captured the room erupting in excitement as Kmet broke into tears of joy.

With gatherings restricted, friends and neighbors surprised him with a 45-minute car parade the next day. A separate clip captured them driving by his home, honking, cheering, and waving signs to celebrate his NFL entry.

The Bears sent a message to Kmet via the Instagram post.

“Throwback to a special draft day celebration for the hometown kid

” the team wrote. 

The emotional trip down memory lane resonated deeply with Kmet’s wife, Emily Kmet. She shared her emotional reaction to the Bears’ post.

Emily Kmet has been with the standout tight end long before his NFL career. She has consistently been by Cole Kmet’s side through the years, both on and off the field. It is clear from her reaction to the Bears’ post that her support remains unwavering. 

Cole Kmet achieved every local kid’s dream: playing for the team he grew up cheering for. Since the draft day, he has solidified himself as one of the most productive tight ends in Bears history.

Over the past six seasons, Kmet has recorded 288 receptions for 2,939 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns in 100 games. Among Bears tight ends, he ranks second in receptions, third in receiving yards, and second in first-down catches and touchdowns. 

The veteran tight end has missed only two games in his Chicago career, and that is exceptional. With his reliability and well-rounded skills, he is expected to provide the Bears with another dependable weapon in the 2026 season.
