The edge rusher position just got a lot more expensive.

Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby inked a new deal worth $106.5 million in total ($91.5 million guaranteed).

Micah Parsons, the Dallas Cowboys defensive end also seeking a new contract, sounded off on X to congratulate Crosby after the report.

While this may not be the most cryptic post we've seen from Parsons, it certainly sends a message.

If the Cowboys haven't gotten the message already, it is clear that Micah wants to stay in Dallas ... and now he has a target number he may be able to ask for.

But Las Vegas getting this deal done first is significant because it displays their effort to lock in their guy.

Not to say Dallas isn't planning on Parsons, but the Cowboys now feel a wave of pressure to live up to the new market set by the Raiders.

Throughout free agency, Parsons has not been shy about sharing the process:

"There's definitely a plan in place, but we'll just see how everything plays out," Parsons told DallasCowboys.com. "There's been no progress yet, but I'm pretty confident that something will happen, so we'll see."

This "plan" has been in motion for plenty of time now, leaving Cowboys Nation scratching their heads and wondering...

What are we waiting for?

Crosby and Parsons are two of the best defensive players in football, there can hardly be any number that defines their true value to their team.

The Raiders' edge rusher missed some time due to injury last season, but still accumulated 45 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

Parsons also didn't play in every game for Dallas last season, but still surpassed double-digit sack numbers (12) for his fourth consecutive year.

The Cowboys are on the clock more than ever to lock down their defensive cornerstone ... now with a target number in view.
