The Las Vegas Raiders are committed to excellence on the field and in the locker room.
In 1967, the team created the Gorman Award, which was eventually renamed the Commitment to Excellence Award. The award is given to the player who best exemplifies hard work, leadership, and excellence on and off the field.
Star defensive end Maxx Crosby was voted by his teammates to receive the award for the 2023 season. This is the third consecutive season that Crosby has won the award.
Crosby is having another excellent season on the field and was just named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl. With one game left in the season, Crosby has totaled 88 tackles, a league-leading 21 tackles for loss, 27 quarterback hits, and a career-high 13.5 sacks. He has also generated 86 total pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.
Crosby has been nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award and the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, awards that are given to those who exemplify excellence on the field, off the field, and within their community.
In November, Crosby created the Maxx Crosby Foundation, which focuses on several issues, including teen substance abuse prevention, youth health and wellness, animal rescue and abuse prevention, and more, according to the foundation’s website.
Crosby has earned the award three years in a row, earning it for the first time in 2021. If he wins it a fourth time next season, he will tie former center Rodney Hudson. Hall of Fame wide receiver Tim Brown earned the award six times, the most in team history.
