Dolphins get more positive injury news as key playmakers trend toward availability entering Week 1 preparations

The Miami Dolphins are continuing to trend in the right direction as the team enters into formal preparations for their Week 1 contest against the Indianapolis Colts. Miami had a bit of a rocky training camp stretch with some of their biggest stars — they went through a two-week joint practice roadtrip and came out the other side without having De'Von Achane, Tyreek Hill, and Austin Jackson not participating due to injuries in some way, shape or form. It's a meaningful trio for the Dolphins, particularly when you stack on top of it the team's current running back injuries and the deliberate onboarding process for veteran tight end Darren Waller as he returns from retirement.

But Monday brings with it the hope of reinforcements. All four of those names, according to head coach Mike McDaniel, will practice today — Achane is back.

Running back De'Von Achane returning to practice on Monday

Jackson and Hill practiced lightly at the end of last week, while Waller's return from retirement had been steadily building. He has had no setbacks in his ramp-up period. But Achane's return is one that had many leery — he was out with what was described as a calf injury. Those, if allowed to fester, can turn into Achilles injuries. But Achane appears to have popped out the other side of his calf flare up with no setbacks thus far.

"My vision of (Achane) practicing will become a reality today. I think there is (CB) Ethan Bonner, (RB) Jaylen Wright, and (WR) Dee Eskridge won't practice — everyone else will. In that, I'll be excited to see him. He was having an unbelievable training camp. We're still showing some of the stuff we were doing before he was out, so I'm expecting him to not miss a beat based on his tremendous offseason. I would envision him being available for Week 1, we have been very aggressive with treatment so that there's no setbacks. That will be the focus. If there's no setbacks, he will be playing," said McDaniel.

The Dolphins haven't had Achane, Hill, Jackson, and Waller on the practice field at the same time at any point of training camp. Whether or not that is a good thing or a bad thing? Well, we'll find out soon enough when Miami visits Indianapolis for their season-opening contest of 2025.

But getting them together now certainly beats the alternative of not getting them together at all.
