Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan made one thing clear ahead of the NFL draft: De’Von Achane isn’t going anywhere.
“He’s not available for trade,” Sullivan said, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to keeping one of its most dynamic offensive weapons.
Despite league-wide movement and speculation around top skill players, Miami has drawn a hard line, signaling Achane remains central to the team’s long-term plans.
While shutting down trade rumors, Sullivan also offered optimism regarding ongoing contract negotiations.
“Things are going good… trending in the right direction,” he said, suggesting both sides are working toward a new deal.dyn
The Dolphins have prioritized extending Achane, viewing him as a foundational piece alongside key contributors like Jordyn Brooks and Aaron Brewer. The front office appears motivated to finalize a deal early, especially with other top running backs across the league due for extensions this offseason.
Achane’s importance is backed by elite production. The 2025 season saw him rush for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection.
Since entering the league in 2023, he has emerged as one of the NFL’s most efficient playmakers, leading all skill players with 5.6 yards per carry and ranking among the top players in scrimmage yards per game.
That combination of explosiveness and consistency has elevated his market value at a time when teams are increasingly selective about investing in running backs.
With players like Jahmyr Gibbs and Bijan Robinson also eligible for new deals, Miami understands the importance of timing.
Sullivan acknowledged that teams typically aim to “get ahead of the market,” though he emphasized that each player’s situation remains unique.
For the Dolphins, the priority is clear: lock in Achane before the market shifts and ensure he remains a cornerstone of the franchise’s evolving roster.
