Eagles fans will be able to predict what ESPN picked as team's biggest strength

As the Eagles get set to open the season against the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL writers at ESPN took the time to rank each team's biggest strengths for the 2025 season. To no one's surprise, the Eagles' biggest asset going into 2025 is their "exceptional run game".

Anchored by Saquon Barkley (who is fresh off his number one NFL top 100 ranking), the Eagles totaled 3,048 rushing yards in the regular season, while adding another 818 rushing yards in the postseason. Barkley accounted for 2005 of those yards en route to his 2025 Offensive Player of the Year honors.

In addition to Barkley, the 2024 Eagles' rushing attack was supported by Jalen Hurts (630 rushing yards), Keith Gainwell (290 rushing yards), and even Will Shipley, who added 82 rushing yards himself. The team had nine players gain positive rushing yards, with only Tanner McKee adding negative yards (-1 rushing yards), on a QB kneel.

In addition to their rushing yards, the Eagles found "paydirt" 29 times in 2024, with Barkley (13) and Hurts (14) accounting for 27 rushing touchdowns themselves. The scary part is they may be able to repeat that success in 2025.

How can the Eagles replicate what they did on the ground in 2025

With the addition of A.J. Dillion, the Eagles took a low-risk, high-reward player similar to the mold of Zack Baun. Dillon is dealing with past injuries; however, for a $1.3 million contract over one year, a 400- to 500-yard rushing output could pay off dividends for the Eagles in 2025.

They are also bringing back Will Shipley, who is now another year older and has a year of experience under his belt if called upon, and coupled with the fact that Jeff Stoutland returns four out of five of his starting offensive linemen, the Eagles' roster is one of the more complete offensive units in the NFL.

With the season starting this Thursday, the Eagles will be put to the test to see if their team on paper comes to fruition. While no one can doubt the job Howie Roseman has done, football games are won on the field, and not in the "war room".
