Early odds and bold prediction for Commanders' Week 1 showdown vs. Giants
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn Eric Canha-Imagn Images

After another interesting offseason, the Washington Commanders have their sights firmly set on the regular season. And first up for head coach Dan Quinn's squad is a divisional matchup against the New York Giants on home soil.

There are huge expectations on the Commanders' shoulders in 2025. Their incredible surge into contention last season and the aggressive moves made by general manager Adam Peters dictate as much. Living up to them is the difficult part, so getting off on the right foot versus the Giants can provide the springboard.

This isn't going to be a walkover. The Giants have some decent offensive pieces. They also have a devastating defensive front seven led by Dexter Lawrence II, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and first-round pick Abdul Carter, who are capable of wrecking any game when firing on all cylinders.

It'll be a challenge, but the Commanders look more than up to the task. Here are the early odds and a bold prediction for Washington's Week 1 clash.

Commanders' early odds for Week 1 vs. NY Giants

According to the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, the Commanders are 6.5-point favorites at home to the Giants in Week 1.

  • Washington -6.5 points: -104 (bet $104 to win $100)
  • New York +6.5 points: -118 (bet $118 to win $100)

Anyone wishing to bet the Commanders' money line needs deep pockets to get a decent return. They are currently -260 (bet $260 to win $100), which is a fair reflection of how the two sides fared last time around.

The Giants are rightfully underdogs at Northwest Stadium at +215 for the contest (bet $100 to win $215).

FanDuel Sportsbook is expecting a relatively entertaining affair to begin the season, with the over/under set at 45.5 points for the clash.

  • Over 45.5 points: -112 (bet $112 to win $100)
  • Under 45.5 points: -108 (bet $108 to win $100)

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

Commanders' bold prediction vs. NY Giants in Week 1

  • Washington needs last-drive heroics to come away with a Week 1 victory.

This might seem a little far-fetched for a club that was far superior to the Giants in 2024. But don't be surprised if the G-Men keep this closer than most expect heading into the business end of the game.

There are always sme teething problems in Week 1. All the pressure is on the Commanders after going deep into the postseason in 2024. That's not the case with the Giants, who can go into the divisional matchup relaxed in their quest for an upset.

Even if the Commanders don't have everything go their way, fans can relax, safe in the knowledge that superstar quarterback Jayden Daniels can come through in the clutch.
